Professional Psychological Testing and Evaluations for La Mesa Residents

If you're living in La Mesa and feeling unsure about how to support yourself or a loved one through challenges related to attention, emotions, learning, or behavior — you're not alone. At Restore Psychology, we offer comprehensive psychological evaluations designed to help clarify what's going on and guide you toward meaningful solutions.

Whether it's navigating school struggles, understanding emotional ups and downs, or getting clarity on a possible diagnosis, our team provides calm, professional support every step of the way.

What Is the Purpose of a Psychological Evaluation?

A psychological evaluation is more than a checklist — it’s a chance to get a deeper understanding of patterns that may be affecting your daily life. This includes looking at cognitive functioning, emotional health, learning styles, and how these elements interact.

The process typically involves one-on-one meetings, standardized testing tools, and a careful review of your history and concerns. All of it comes together to offer clear insights and personalized recommendations you can actually use.

What We Assess for Clients in La Mesa

Restore Psychology offers a variety of assessments, each tailored to the client’s age, needs, and context. Our most common evaluations include:

  • Testing for ADHD and attention-related difficulties

  • Evaluations for academic and learning issues

  • Clarification around anxiety, depression, or other emotional struggles

  • Diagnostic questions involving multiple or overlapping symptoms

  • Assessments that include a values-based or faith-informed lens if requested

We strive to make every evaluation both informative and supportive — something that empowers your next step rather than overwhelms.

Who Comes to Us for Help

Clients from La Mesa and the surrounding East County area come to us for a range of reasons. You might resonate with one of these scenarios:

  • A parent noticing their child falling behind or acting out in the classroom

  • A teen overwhelmed by pressure, mood shifts, or social challenges

  • A college student questioning whether ADHD or anxiety could be impacting academic performance

  • An adult seeking answers about memory, focus, or long-standing emotional patterns

  • Someone who simply wants a professional, outside perspective

We offer a free 15-minute consultation to talk through your concerns and make sure our services are the right fit.

What the Assessment Process Looks Like

Here’s how we walk clients through the evaluation journey:

  1. Free 15-Minute Call – A quick, no-cost consultation to learn about your goals

  2. Assessment Sessions – Testing conducted at a calm, measured pace

  3. Review and Analysis – A careful interpretation of all findings

  4. Feedback Appointment – A meeting to go over your results and answer questions

  5. Written Report – A clear, actionable report tailored to your needs

We also offer support after the evaluation, such as referrals to therapy, school advocacy, and connections to psychiatrists when exploring medication options.

Payment, Insurance, and Accessibility

We are in-network with Aetna, United Healthcare and Anthem Blue Cross for psychological evaluations and are an out-of-network provider with all other insurances. Many clients receive reimbursement by submitting a superbill to their insurance company if we are out-of-network with them. We’ll help you understand how to do that.

Flexible payment arrangements are also available if needed.

FAQs

How do I know if testing is the right step?

If you're feeling uncertain about what's going on — whether it's attention, learning, or emotional issues — an evaluation can help bring things into focus.

What age groups do you work with?

We see children, teens, college students, and adults. The process is adapted to fit each stage of life.

Will this include a diagnosis?

Yes, if one is appropriate. We explain any diagnosis clearly and focus on how it can guide treatment, school planning, or personal growth.

Do you help with medication decisions?

While we don’t prescribe medications, we often refer clients to psychiatrists or medical providers and help them weigh options as part of the post-assessment process.

Is the initial consultation really free?

Yes — it’s a no-cost, 15-minute phone call meant to help us get to know each other and assess whether we're a good fit.
